Characterization of Chemical Composition of Ores and Concentrates (Id 123)

No current offer!

Within the framework of a project dealing with the extraction of Rare Earth Metals, three ores enriched with these elements are prepared and the leach solutions resulting therefrom are provided for testing a new extraction agent. The major challenge is the exact characterization of the ores and the concentrates obtained from them. For a successful accomplishment of this task, the appropriate choice of an optimal analytical method for the respective element and an optimal digestion method are of decisive importance.

Main tasks:

  • Literature research
  • Testing of different digestion procedures
  • Characterization of composition of samples with different analytical methods (FRA, AAS, MLA, ICP-OES, ICP-MS)

Department: Metallurgy and Recycling

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (or equivalent)
  • Safe handling of chemicals
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Own initiative and teamwork

Conditions

Begin: from now on
Duration: 4-6 months
