Sensitivity Study of bubble column simulation (Id 130)

No current offer!

Background: Bubble columns have a wide range of applications in chemical or process industry, and the fluid dynamics has been intensively investigated. One noticeable point is that various treatments of boundary conditions are currently used in the bubble column simulation. For example, the gas sparger is often treated as source points or simplified as enlarged holes for computational efficiency and stability. There is a need to study the sensitivity of these treatments and simplifications.
Main tasks:

  • Literature survey on bubble column simulation and sparger treatment
  • Prepare and perform simulations using the commercial CFD code ANSYS CFX, including mesh generation
  • Sensitivity study of simulation setup including time step, grid resolution, convergence criteria, boundary conditions, etc.
  • Analyse and document simulation results
