Working Group on Radiochemistry/Radiopharmacy
(Chairman: Prof. J. Steinbach, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf)
The Working Group on Radiochemistry/Radiopharmacy (AGRR) was founded in 1992 within the German Society of Nuclear Medicine (DGN). The working group joins radiochemists and radiopharmacists who are engaged in radiopharmaceutical chemistry research and production of radiopharmaceuticals. The members come from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other countries. The AGRR provides a platform for the exchange of information, promotion of collaboration as well as support in postgradual and continuing education. In view of the need to harmonize postgraduate education in Europe which qualifies chemists or pharmacists according to common standards, a postgraduate programme has been developed (G. Westera and B.Johannsen. Postgradual education of persons responsible for the small-scale production and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals. Eur.J.Nucl.Med. 1997;24(3):BP5-BP7). Actual informations about this issue can be obtained from the homepage of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (http://www.eanm.org/).
One of the central activities of the Working Group is the annual symposium. In 2009 the 17th meeting will be held in Schellerhau, from Sept. 24. – Sept. 26, 2009 organized by Prof. J. Steinbach, Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, Institute of Radiopharmacy and Prof. G. Wunderlich, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden, Department of Nuclear Medicine.
