Steam/water experiments at the test section "Variable Gas Injection system"

The electrical steam generator and the test section circuit are used for the realisation of the steam/water experiments with the "Variable Gas Injection system". The so-called "Variable Gas Injection system" is a specific test section that consists of a special kind of vertical tube DN200, which is equipped with gas injection units at six different heights and a riser for the gaseous phase. The riser is used for the supply of the steam to the six injection units during these experiments.

The circulation pump of the steam generator circuit supports the medium from the separator through the mixer and cooler into the electrical steam generator, in that a maximum of 20 % of the flow rate is evaporated. The water/steam mixture flows into the separator, which provides the saturated steam for the experiments after the separation.

The test section pump supports water from the steam drum into the lower part of the test section. The required mass flow of the fluid is adjusted with the help of three parallel control valves and by means of the frequency converter at the test section pump.

The steam injection into the test section is carried out via the riser to the injection chambers, which can be blocked separately. The necessary steam mass flow is adjusted by means of two control valves arranged in parallel. The measurements are carried out with high temperature wire-mesh sensors, which are installed at the upper end of the test section.
