Simulation of Cascading Decays Measured w/ HPGe detectors

Results for GEANT3 Monte-Carlo Detector Simulations

The detector geometry is taken from detector documentation. The borehole in the center of the coaxial HPGe crystals is assumed to have 11.5 mm diameter. The rounded edges of the detectors are not implemented which may cause a slightly lower efficiency in reality. A sheet of 1.535 mm Cd is used as an absorber in front of the detector. The source is assumed to have 20 mm diameter and a thickness of 40 microns. Distances in the following plots are measured wrt the crystal surface.
