HZDR scientist Jens Pietzsch has been appointed as adjunct professor by the rector of the TU Dresden, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen.

Prof. Pietzsch qualified himself as a professor in clinical metabolism research at the Medical Faculty of the TU Dresden in 2002. Since 2006, he has been lecturing on the pathological changes of chemical processes in cells, tissue, and organs at the Faculty of Science, a subject called pathobiochemistry.

Prof. Pietzsch has been working at the HZDR since 2002. In 2005, he became head of the Radiopharmaceutical Biology Division at the Institute of Radiopharmacy. The division deals with the development and characterization of radioactive sensors and substances for cancer diagnosis and treatment. This requires, among other things, fundamental biochemical and biological studies of the origin and behavior of cancer cells.
