Magnetohydrodynamics – Magnetic Fields in the Cosmos and in Steel Casting

Three-dimensional movies from the HZDR: Magnetic fields play a fundamental role in the universe, for example, when stars and black holes are created from rotating gas clouds. But the interaction between flows of molten metal and electromagnetic fields can also be studied and utilized for technical processes on earth. At the LIMMCAST test facility, researchers are analyzing the use of magnetic fields in steel casting.
