Kick-Off Meeting for European Laser Project

News published on November 22, 2011

The European project “Lasers for Applications at Accelerators: A Marie Curie Initial Training Network” (LA3NET) will be launched with its Kick-Off meeting on November 24 and 25, 2011, at the University of Liverpool. The project was accepted for funding by the European Commission in early June 2011, under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), which includes all EU initiatives related to research.

LA3NET is a network of the Marie Curie program and belongs to the subprogram 'People' which brings together 11 European laboratories, including the HZDR. This project is dedicated to the training of PhD students on the subject of lasers and its applications at accelerators. PhD students have the opportunity to enrich their knowledge and experience by working with the laboratories and industrial partners involved in the project.

The Institute of Radiation Physics at the HZDR will host two PhD students, one in the ELBE division and one in the division of laser particle acceleration.
