At the end of the sorption stage, pH measurements were performed as described above and the samples were centrifuged at 12 000 × g for 2 h (Sigma 3-30KH centrifuge). Scattered light intensity measurements (BI-90 particle sizer, Brookhaven Instruments) verified that the supernatants were free of colloids. The selenium concentration in the supernatant, determined by ICP-MS, was used to calculate the amount of adsorbed seleniumIJVI). Se uptake on the walls of polypropylene vials was found to be negligible.
