Supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft

Dresden
"SFB 609"
Scope and Goals:
This year, the 5. MHD-Tage will be held in Dresden at the
Forschungszentrum Rossendorf (FZR)
on 25. and 26 November
2002. It is jointly organized by the
MHD-group
of the
Institute of Safety Research
at FZR, and by the
Sonderforschungsbereich 609 "Elektromagnetische
Strömungsbeeinflussung in Metallurgie, Kristallzüchtung
und Elektrochemie".
Following the tradition of the former MHD-Tage, held in
Potsdam 1997, Göttingen 1999, Potsdam 2000, and
Bochum 2001, the 5. MHD-Tage will focus on astrophysical
plasmas. However, there will also be a link to earthly
topics like the geodynamo and its laboratory "epigones",
as well as to industrial applications of MHD. In this
context, we would like to inform about the MHD activities
in the Dresden area, and present our MHD laboratory to
the guests.
Undergraduate and PhD students are particularly encouraged to
attend. In case of financial problems, please contact the
organizing committee.
