The HZDR Mentoring Program
The HZDR Mentoring Program for junior researchers and international employees started in January 2012. The initiative pursues the objective of promoting and supporting talented young scientists at an early stage of their careers. The program is currently under revision and will be incorporated into the new HZDR Career Center.
Who can be a mentor?
Mentors are experienced persons at the HZDR who convey their professional expertise and experience to our junior staff members. To permit an intensive exchange of ideas and information, every mentor will assist and supervise only one program participant. These might be some possible mentoring topics:
- Career planning
- Generating personal objectives
- Creating networks
- Scientific management
- Joint conferences
Who can be a mentee?
Mentees can be new postdocs, junior research group leaders as well as all foreign staff members requiring assistance. The latter are also provided comprehensive advice and support by Ms. Yvonne Matthes at the International Office.
