Other activities

Conferences and workshops

The doctoral candidates have the opportunity to participate in conferences and/or workshops, presenting their results to international scientific audiences. Such activities can be supported by the NanoNet Visibility Grant. For more information check the Internal area or contact the IHRS NanoNet coordinator.


Colloquia and lecture series

The doctoral candidates have the opportunity to be introduced to the broader physics-, chemistry-, electronics- and materials-related background of the Dresden research environment by attending various local scientific events such as the HZDR colloquium, the colloquia organized by the various departments of the TU Dresden, and selected colloquia, workshops, and lecture series held by the nearby Max-Planck, Leibniz and Fraunhofer Institutes. The colloquia and lectures of interest to the NanoNet participants can be found in our Event calendar.

Additionally, the doctoral candidates may also attend selected scientific events organized by the Dresden-concept strengthening the connection between scientific and cultural topics. An overview of all scientific talks in the city of Dresden can be found in the Dresden Science Calendar.


Outreach

Since science communication to broad audiences is a fundamental aspect in modern science, the NanoNet doctoral candidates may take the opportunity to engage themselves in various outreach activities during the programme. Examples of outreach activities include undergraduate tutorials at the TU Dresden, tutorials for school children at the “Schülerlabor” of the HZDR, and assistance during open house days, such as the “Dresden Long Night of Science”. Lab tours

Lab tours to IHRS NanoNet partners, as well as to facilities of selected interested industrial partners, will be organized to broaden the candidates perspectives and extend training to knowledge transfer in an applied context.
