PostDoc (f/m/d) in Translational Radiation Oncology

As member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, the HZDR employs about 1,400 people. The Center's focus is on interdisciplinary research in the areas energy, health and matter.

The Institute for Radiation Oncology – OncoRay invites applications as PostDoc (f/m/d) in Translational Radiation Oncology

The position will be available from March 1 st , 2021. The employment contract is limited to two years.

Tasks:

The Group "Translational Radiooncology" of OncoRay - National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology - focuses on the improvement of radiotherapy treatments and imaging methods by biological individualization and the evaluation of particle therapy

  • Performing pre-clinical and translational in vivo experiments with established or patient-derived tumor models
  • Studying radiation effects alone or in combination with systemic treatment on tumor and normal tissue 
  • Using multi-modal techniques including medical imaging, omics, advanced microscopy and computer-based analyses 
  • Foster and establish (inter)national cooperation in the field of cancer treatment 
  • Teaching, supervision and project managing tasks 

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, biophysics, physics, medicine, veterinary medicine or related disciplines
  • Good knowledge in tumor biology, medical imaging techniques and cancer research is advantageous 
  • Experience with in vivo tumor models and qualification of FELASA B is a plus, willingness to work with in vivo models is expected 
  • Hands-on experience with testing of substances and/or irradiation in small animals is preferrred 
  • First experience in project management desired 
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English 
  • Ability to work independently on scientific topics 
  • Inter-personal and team working skills
