PostDoc (f/m/d) Life Cycle Assessment, techno-economic and sustainability evalution of industrial processing

At the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology (HIF), innovative technologies for the circulareconomy are developed to provide and use mineral and metal-bearing rawmaterials more efficiently and to recycle them in an environmentally friendly way.

As part of the Institute, the Department of Modelling and Valuation invites applications as PostDoc (f/m/d) Life Cycle Assessment, techno-economic and sustainability evalution of industrial processing.

The position will be available from 1 August 2022. The employment contract is limited till 30 April 2024.

Your tasks:

  • Perform resource efficiency, Life Cycle Assessments, techno-economic and sustainabillty evaluations of resource-intensive industrial processes such as chemical, metallurgical or energy production processes
  • Benchmark different processes and scenarios to find the most efficient and sustalnable route for the production of commodltles such as materials, metals or energy
  • Coordinate work packages in national and international projects related to the tasks mentioned above
  • Attend meetlngs and workshops within these projects
  • Expand the knowledge and create new methods for evaluating the sustainability of resource-lntensive industrial processes
  • Supervise students on the topics mentioned above

Your profile:

  • Completed PhD in Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related topics

  • Experience in Life Cycle Assessment, techno-economic and sustainability evaluatlons of industrial processes

  • Willingness to research and generate new knowledge and methods wlthin the sustainability evaluation of industrial processes

  • Experience in project management and coordination, and writlng of project proposals

  • Strong motivation to work in a collaborative research environment within the group, Institute and project

  • Excellent communication skills in English in a professional context
