IT-System Administrator (f/m/d)

The Institute of Radiation Physics conducts research for states of matter under extreme conditions and in very small dimensions.

As part of the Institute, the Department of Nuclear Physics invites applications as IT-System Administrator (f/m/d).

The position will be available from now. The employment contract is limited to two years with the possibility of a longer-term perspective.

Your tasks:

  • System administration for data technology at a research institute with its large-scale scientific equipment
  • Selection and procurement of IT hardware
  • Participation and IT support in the implementation of scientific research projects
  • Consulting and support of users (1st/2nd level support)
  • Adaptation, application and testing of different subject-specific software of science
  • Maintenance of networks, servers (e.g. Ceph, Proxmox, Netboot/PXE) and printers
  • Maintenance of the internet presence of the institute

Your profile:

  • Degree (BA, FH, Bachelor), preferably in an IT or IT-related field of study, or a completed vocational training in the IT field or previous work as an IT expert
  • Experience in system administration of Windows and Linux servers
  • Good language skills in German and English (level B2 or better)
  • Independent, structured and reliable way of working
  • Analytical thinking skills
