PostDoc (f/m/d) Experimental Proton Therapy

At the Institute of Radiooncology – OncoRay scientists (f/m/d) specializing in medicine, physics, biology and IT work together to crucially improve the treatment of cancer by administering radiation therapy that is biologically-personalized and technically-optimized.

As part of the Institute, the Department of Image Guided High Precision Radiotherapy invites applications as Postdoc (f/m/d) Experimental Proton Therapy.

The position will be available from 1 September 2022. The employment contract is limited to two years.

Your tasks:

  • 3D/4D-treatment planning for experimental MR-integrated proton therapy
  • Establishment of online adaptive treatment workflow, including time-resolved imaging, dose estimation, and quality assurance
  • Collaboration with the research group Experimental MR-integrated Proton Therapy at OncoRay (Prof. Aswin Hoffmann) and with the MR-LINAC group of the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus Dresden (Prof. Esther Troost)
  • Publication and presentation of scientific results in leading peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences
  • Supervision of graduation students (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
  • Acquisition of third-party funding

Your profile:

  • PhD degree in Medical Physics or Biomedical Engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of (time-resolved) MR-imaging and Radiation Therapy Physics
  • Advanced experience in radiation treatment planning, for proton therapy as well as MR-integrated photon therapy
  • Excellent experimental and computer programming skill
  • Proven ability to work independently, efficiently, goal-oriented with a strong pro-active personal motivation
  • Strong interest in multidisciplinary and translational research
  • Excellent English communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to work in an international multidisciplinary team
