Laser engineer (f/m/d)

The Institute of Radiation Physics conducts research for states of matter under extreme conditions and in very small dimensions.

As part of the Institute, the Department HIBEF at the European XFEL in Schenefeld (Hamburg) invites applications as Laser engineer (f/m/d). The position will be available from 1 May 2023.

Your tasks:

The successful candidate (f/m/d) will be involved in the maintanace and operation of the HiBEF ReLaX 300 TW Ti:Sapphire and DIPOLE100-X laser systems. This includes

  • Beam transport, opto- mechanical engineering, electro-optic engineering, controls and interfacing, vendor communication, laboratory preparation, laser installation and commissioning, diagnostics development, routine maintenance and operations for XFEL-user experiments with highest reliability

Your profile:

  • Bachelor´s or Master´s degree or equivalent in Optical or Laser Physics or Engineering
  • Laser optical design, construction and pulse diagnostics
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team
