Postdoc (f/m/d) Biophysical Research in Proton Therapy

At the Institute of Radiooncology – OncoRay scientists (f/m/d) specializing in medicine, physics, biology and IT work together to crucially improve the treatment of cancer by administering radiation therapy that is biologically-personalized and technically-optimized.
The Department of Medical Radiation Physics is looking for a Postdoc (f/m/d) Biophysical Research in Proton Therapy, the position is initially for a fixed term of 24 months, with the aim of extending the contract beyond that period.
Your tasks
- Planning, setup, conducting and analysis of physics and biology experiments, in particular at the Dresden proton therapy facility
- Supervision of graduation theses (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
- Teaching within the master program Medical Radiation Sciences including the radiation protection modules
- Acquisition of third-party funding (independent and contributory)
Your profile
- Completed PhD in the field of Physics, Medical Physics or related discipline
- Relevant professional experience in the specified area
- Excellent knowledge in radiation and medical physics, in particular acceleration, transport, detection and interaction of particle beams with matter
- Very good experimental skills and substantial practical experience in irradiation and dosimetry, preferably with proton beam
- Strong interest in multidisciplinary and translational research and interest in radiation protection
- Knowledge in radiation protection and radiation biology is a plus
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, goal-oriented and proactive
- Ability to work as a part of an international team
- High motivation and personal commitment
- Experience with Monte Carlo simulation codes is a plus
- Excellent English skills
