Company Visits

Would you like to have valuable insights into a company? Would you like to get to know an exciting local employer and ask your questions about corporate culture and technology? Then please register at postdoccenter@hzdr.de. There are 15 spaces available at each visit. First come, first served. A waiting list is possible. You will then receive a confirmation with the exact address and where we meet. Please note that you have to organize the journey to and from the company on your own (within Dresden).

The company visit program is an event format to which the Postdoc Center HZDR-TUD and the Technology Transfer and Innovation department are jointly inviting. The aim of this program is to provide insights into various companies, to make contacts in the working world and thus to explore and expand professional networks in a wide variety of areas. Each time we go to a company (throughout Saxony), explore the company location, find out interesting facts about the global company and talk to management and employees from the departments about research and development, corporate culture and opportunities for cooperation.

We invite to get insights into VON ARDENNE GmbH, an international technology company with headquarters in Dresden-Weißig. More than 1000 employees work in a total of seven countries in Europe, Asia and North America. The company develops and manufactures vacuum coating systems for the production of sustainable products. VON ARDENNE is the leading supplier of PVD coating systems for the production of solar cells. With more than 550 systems sold to date, the Dresden-based technology company has installed production equipment with an annual production capacity of around 70 GW for its customers worldwide.

The Dresden-based company SEMPA SYSTEMS GmbH was founded in 2001 and has since established itself as an experienced provider of ultra-pure media supply systems, even for very special applications. Customers include large companies in the semiconductor and LED industry as well as representatives of the photovoltaic and pharmaceutical sectors. The company employs 160 people at its sites in Dresden (headquarters) and Hermsdorf (Thuringia). Since November 1, 2021, SEMPA is part of the globally active Meptagon Group, a multidisciplinary company with branches in Ireland, Central Europe, Israel and India.

The Mask Technology Center Dresden consists of two companies - Toppan Photomasks Germany GmbH and Advanced Mask Technology Center GmbH & Co. KG (AMTC) as a joint venture of Toppan Photomasks, Inc. and Globalfoundries. Together we develop and produce lithographic photomasks using the industry's most advanced production equipment. Such a technology alliance of leading companies in the semiconductor industry for the joint development and production of photomasks is unique in the world. Photomasks are high-purity glass substrates that contain precise images of integrated circuits (or semiconductor chips). Photomasks are an integral part of the production of integrated circuits on silicon substrates (wafer).

We, Stadtentwässerung Dresden GmbH, are a company consisting of the City of Dresden and GELSENWASSER AG. Wastewater is our business, we provide services in the fields of wastewater treatment, environmental analysis as well as in the planning and construction of wastewater plants.

GF is a US semiconductor manufacturer conducting contract manufacturing. The company was founded in 2009 as a spin-off of AMD's semiconductor manufacturing operations. The company operates production facilities on three continents - in Dresden, Singapore, Malta, Saratoga County (New York) and Burlington (Vermont) in the USA. GF in Dresden is one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in Europe (as of 2022, gf.com), with about 3700 employees from 47 nations, 52,000 m² of clean room space and a wafer throughput (300 mm) of about 850,000 wafers per year. For example, various eNVM solutions (embedded non-volatile memories) such as MRAM (magnetoresistive random access memory), RRAM (resistive random access memory) and eFLASH (embedded FLASH) are produced in Dresden, as well as RF/mmWave for future broadband high-speed communication systems and high-resolution high-frequency applications.

ROTOP Pharmaka is a leading pharmaceutical company with over 20 years of experience that produces cGMP compliant radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostics and therapy in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and distributes them in more than 30 countries. Furthermore, ROTOP offers a broad range of CDMO services for cold kits and radioactive pharmaceuticals, such as drug product develompent and GMP manufacturing, API manufacturing as well as packacking and global transport and logistics.

As an international aviation company with headquarter in Dresden, EFW is helping to shape the future of the aviation industry. EFW is one of the very few companies in Europe that manufactures and delivers complete large aircraft. In addition to the conversion locations in Dresden, other locations in the USA, Singapore and China are also looked after.

BASF is one of the leading manufacturers of battery materials for electric vehicles, and offers products and services for around 90,000 customers from almost every industry and country in the world. The customer portfolio ranges from major global customers and medium-sized companies to end consumers. The Lausitz production site, BASF Schwarzheide GmbH, focuses on the integration of renewable energies, products for future markets or topics of cooperation, such as empowerment or agility. A new production plant for cathode materials was also built here and went into operation this year.

The two Dresden family-owned companies qualitype GmbH and Biotype GmbH are the hosts. Both, together with ROTOP Pharmaka GmbH, are joining forces in the Molecular Diagnostics Group (MDG) competence network. The main goal of the 300 employees at two locations is the development and marketing of innovative diagnostic solutions for personalised medicine. This results in products and services for medical research and clinical routine as a basis for targeted therapy decisions.
Qualitype GmbH sees itself as a software partner for digital laboratory processes. Numerous state criminal investigation departments, for example, rely on the expertise of the specialists from IT, biology, mathematics, forensics and physics in the field of forensics - from digital case management to expert solutions for DNA analysis. Equally exciting is the development and long-term support of the evaluation systems for the renowned QS seal for food safety. Other areas of focus include the development of laboratory automation solutions, cloud applications for sample management and software development for laboratory equipment and medical devices.
Biotype GmbH is an internationally active medical technology and diagnostics company. With a focus on multiplex PCR and molecular diagnostics, in-vitro diagnostics, kits and systems for clinical research and diagnostics are developed and marketed. As a DIN EN ISO 13485 and DIN EN ISO 9001 certified company, Biotype has integrated the complete value chain, from product innovation to development and distribution, under the highest quality standards. The products support the diagnosis and therapy of various types of cancer. Founded in 1999, Biotype is currently developing into an international technology and solution provider for molecular precision diagnostics.

Syntegon Technology is a leading global process and packaging technology provider. The company, headquartered in Waiblingen (Germany), has been offering complete solutions for the pharmaceutical and food industries for over 50 years. About 6,000 employees at 30 locations in more than 15 countries generated a total revenue of EUR 1.3 billion in 2020. The portfolio of intelligent and sustainable technologies includes stand-alone machines, as well as complete systems and services. Fields of application in the pharmaceutical industry are the production, processing, filling, inspection and packaging of liquid and solid pharmaceuticals (e.g. syringes and capsules). Wandelbots GmbH offers the world's easiest solution for training robots and a standardized platform for software developers. To this end, Wandelbots employs more than 140 people from 17 countries – its headquarter is in Dresden. Robots from Universal Robots & Yaskawa are currently used by companies such as BMW, Bayer, VW, Fraunhofer, Schaeffler, Rotop and Vitesco with the Wandelbots technology. Wandelbots raised $84 million in Series C funding in January and plans to open up the robotics software platform. To expand its global presence, Wandelbots is now looking for international talents in all disciplines.
