Title Futuristic material: Graphene
Description The ultra-thin material, which consists of a single layer of linked carbon atoms, is considered a promising candidate for the nanoelectronics of the future. For example, HZDR scientists can use graphene to convert electronic signals with frequencies in the gigahertz range - which corresponds to today's clock rates of silicon-based electronic components - extremely efficiently into signals with a much higher frequency, reaching into the terahertz range.
