Description
|
Schematic of the setup of an ICF experiment. The fuel pellet of deuterium and tritium is heated with laser flashes (red). Helium, neutrons and energy emerge from the reaction. X-ray lasers (blue) are directed at the sample for diagnostics. The scattering of this signal (green) is recorded. The evaluation of this so-called X-ray Thomson scattering is the key to understanding the processes that take place inside the pellet.
