A 3D model of the experimental setup: A single-crystal sample of the Heusler compound, cut to graduated thicknesses of a few micrometers using ion beams. Magnetic domain structures (black lines) form under the magnetic field, changing their properties depending on sample thickness, magnetic field strength and orientation, and temperature.
