The scientific activities of the nuclear physics division concentrate on applied nuclear physics covering nuclear astrophysics, nuclear structure physics for research and technology, materials science using positron annihilation spectroscopy, and the development of detectors for basic science and medical applications.
I am member of the R3B (Reactions with Relativistic Radioactive Beams) collaboration which conducts experiments at Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GSI and the future FAIR facility.
I act as a chair-elect of the collaboration board of the Helmholtz portfolio initiative "Detector Technologies and Systems" and I am responsible for the activities at HZDR.
The list of research activities and experimental facilities I have contributed to:
|Positron annihilation lifetime and energy spectroscopy||HZDR
ELBE Linac (MePS, GiPS)
|Nuclear data for research and applications||HZDR
ELBE Linac: neutron time-of-flight facility
ELBE Linac: photon scattering
|Detector Development for basic sciences and
in-vivo dosimetry during radiation tumor therapy
|HZDR and other Helmholtz institutions (Helmholtz Detector Technology and Systems program)
University Proton Therapy Center Dresden (Helmholtz Health program)
|Nuclear astrophysics with exotic nuclei||
|Nuclear multifragmentation||NSCL, Michigan State University||completed|
