The campus security system includes all measures for the safe operation of the Rossendorf research site. This includes:
- Reception Service (Empfang)
- Locking and ID system (Ausweisbüro)
- Control Center (Alarmzentrale)
- Physical Protection
- Fire Brigade (Werkfeuerwehr)
On this occasion, a contracted, privately managed company, led by the department for security services, takes over a large part of the security tasks.
Locking and ID System
The Locking and ID System takes care of issuing and managing company badges and locking devices and, as the central point of contact, operates the Badge Office in Building 120, Room 117. Here you can find application forms for badges and locking devices.
Short notice: You can also find the following security information on the flip side of your badge (only in german language)
The Reception Service is the first point of contact for guests, visitors and new employees and is therefore representative for the HZDR.
Visitor badges for all guests of the HZDR are issued here. Visitors must be registered by the relevant HZDR contact person at email@example.com.
In the Control Center in Building 120, all signals from the hazard detection and access control systems come together - this includes, for example, fire detectors, intrusion detectors, the operating parameters of technical systems and more. If necessary, measures to limit the damage are immediately taken in close cooperation with the fire brigade, which is located in the adjacent Building 117. The control center is operated 24/7.
Fire Brigade (WFW)
The Fire Brigade (WFW) takes care of hazard prevention in the sense of preventive fire protection, fire defense, radiation protection as well as a wide range of technical assistance. It is operated 24/7 around the clock by an external service provider, which is supported by a voluntary team of HZDR employees. Our volunteer team is open to everyone who is interested in fire fighting. For this, the physical fitness is necessary. We offer extensive training courses by the Fire Brigade on-site and in cooperation with the Dresden Fire Department on their own training facilities as fire house and breathing apparatus training facility.

The Physical Protection includes all physical and organizational security measures such as guarding and patrolling the site and carrying out cordoning and diversion measures. The campus security department is responsible for the conceptual alignment of these measures, based on object-related security concepts in close cooperation with the VKTA.
