Work package 4.4 - Compartment modeling for new catalyst structures and scale-up methods

Principal Investigator: Prof. Dr.-Ing. M. Grünewald (Ruhr-Universität Bochum)

Scientific Approach:

In order to describe a novel or known reactor-catalyst-concept by means of a compartment-model it is necessary to determine the hydrodynamic properties with experimental or simulated data. Based on these data the compartment model is generated, in which areas with similar hydrodynamic behavior are grouped together and then are described as ideal reactor types like PFTR or CSTR.

Therefore the compartment modeling method is a suitable method to investigate and to scale known or novel reactor-catalyst-concepts with an acceptable computational effort.
