Travel and Accommodation
Travel:
Dresden can be easily reached by plane through nonstop flights from a number of German and European cities including Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Stuttgart, Moscow, and Zurich. Frankfurt and Munich are served 5-6 times per day, thus providing excellent connections to all over the world. Dresden airport (www.dresden-airport.de) is located approximately 10 km north of the city center, which can be reached in a 20 minutes train (€ 2,30) or taxi (around € 20) ride.
Dresden is also served by the German railroad system (www.bahn.de) and can be reached by train from Frankfurt (4.5 hours), Berlin (2 hours) or Prague (2 hours).
If travelling by car, Dresden can be reached via the excellent German highway system from all directions.
Within Dresden, there is a modern and efficient public transportation system of trams and buses available (one-way ticket € 2,30).
Accommodation:
Dresden offers a large selection of hotels in all categories.
Please make your booking using one of the standard websites (e.g. www.hrs.de, www.booking.com, etc.), or directly at the hotel of your choice. (Sometimes rooms are still available at the hotel website, but not at HRS/booking anymore).
Here are a few recommendations, located in the close vicinity of the conference venue (estimated prices for single room plus breakfast; double room may cost slightly more).
- Motel One Palaisplatz (60 + 10 €)
- Hotel Martha (70 + 10 €)
- Hotel Bayrischer Hof (80 + 10 €)
- Hotel Westin Bellevue (100-150 + 20 €)
Don't worry, if these are already full. There are plenty of hotels (for around 70+10 Euro), e.g. on the other side of the Elbe river (Altstadt), such as Motel One am Zwinger, Star Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Artotel, all within 10-15 minutes walking from the conference site.
