Electrochemical processes

EC-bubble-1

Gas-evolving electrodes are a central element in technologically important processes such as chlor-alkali or alkaline water electrolysis. However, an in-depth understanding of bubble growth, coalescence and bubble detachment is not yet achieved. In several projects, the dynamics of single bubbles evolving at microelectrodes is studied by means of high-speed microscopy and interferometry.
