Hydrodynamic couplings
Hydrodynamic couplings are frequently used for a well-regulated transfer of angular momentum in transmission systems. In cooperation with the industrial partner Mahle Behr GmbH the liquid distribution within a rapidly rotating VISCO coupling, used as impeller gear in car air conditioning systems, could be successfully determined for various momentum transfers. By developing a sophisticated calibration method, the working liquid distribution inside the submillimetre-size transfer channels of the coupling could be determined.
In a further study together with the industrial partner VOITH Turbo GmbH the liquid distribution within an operating test coupling for high power drives was successfully analysed.
