Privacy Policy for HZDR's Twitter Channel
In the following Privacy Policy, we (the persons responsible pursuant to the General Data Protection Regulation) explain which personal data we collect about you when you visit the Twitter Channel of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR).
Personal data are defined as all data with which you can be personally identified. We use the twitter channel as a platform for informing the general public and for addressing interested visitors in a targeted way. We only process data that you specifically make available to us by your tweets. The data you enter on Twitter, especially your user name and the content published in your account, will be processed by us if we retweet them, reply to them, or ourselves compose tweets that refer to your account. The data that you freely publish and disseminate via Twitter are incorporated into our channel and made accessible to our followers in this way. Please note that you use this Twitter channel and its functions voluntarily and on your own responsibility. This applies in particular to the use of interactive functions (e.g. retweets, likes, comments).
We use the technical platform and services of Twitter Inc., 1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103 USA, for the information service offered here. The Twitter International Company, One Cumberland Place, Fenian Street, Dublin 2 D02 AX07, Ireland, is responsible for processing the data of persons living outside the United States.
Data processing by Twitter
Data that you disseminate via Twitter (possibly including sensitive data such as political attitudes, sexual orientation or health problems) can be linked by Twitter Inc. and used to create a personality profile. Log data (IP address, browser type, operating system, information on the previously viewed website and the pages you have visited, your location, your mobile provider, the terminal device you use including the device ID and application ID, the search terms you use and information on cookies) are collected even if you read the channel passively without using the functions. Information on the previously visited sites and location data is also collected.
When you use Twitter, your personal data are collected, transmitted, stored, disclosed and used by Twitter Inc.; regardless of where you reside, they are transmitted in this context to the United States, Ireland and all other countries where Twitter Inc. does business, where they are stored and used.
When you visit our channel, Twitter collects, among other things, the data you voluntarily enter, such as your name and user name, email address, telephone number or the contacts in your address book when you upload or synchronize the latter. Twitter also evaluates the content you share according to the topics you are interested in; it stores and processes confidential messages you send directly to other users and can determine your location using GPS data, information on wireless networks or via your IP address and cookies placed on your terminal device, in order to send you advertisements or other content. Twitter can use Twitter buttons or widgets embedded in websites and cookies to track your visits to these websites and assign them to your Twitter profile.
Twitter Inc. may also use analytical tools for evaluation purposes. We have not commissioned, approved or otherwise supported this in any way. Nor are the data obtained in the course of the analysis made available to us. We can only view certain non-personal information on tweet activity, e.g. the number of profile or link clicks by a certain tweet. We have no way of preventing or stopping the use of such tools on our Twitter account.
