Machine Learning Community (MLC) Workshop at HZDR

On May 16th, 2019, the second annual workshop of the Machine Learning Community Dresden (MLC) will take place at HZDR in the large auditorium (Großer Hörsaal, building 106) from 10 am to 5:30 pm. In this workshop, machine learning researchers will come together to exchange their ideas, discuss problems, and plan future cooperations. More than 60 participants are registered and 21 presentations about machine learning topics ranging from life sciences to physics will be given. Different machine learning methods are applied: supervised and unsupervised techniques as well as deep learning.

The overall aim of the MLC is the establishment of connections between machine learners from the Saxonian research institutes. For this, the MLC organises seminars and workshops to bring the machine learners together in order to exchange solutions and to get inspiration from other machine learners even from a different scientific area. Moreover, the MLC is a platform to distribute information about machine learning developments and events. This is achieved via the MLC mailinglist and tutorials organized by the MLC. Thus, all machine learning researchers from beginner to expert level are invited to join the MLC mailing list, seminars and workshops.

The MLC was set up by TU Dresden, ScaDS Dresden/Leipzig—Competence Center for Scalable Data Services and Solutions, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG), and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. This second workshop is co-organized by the Center of Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS), which is currently being founded. CASUS will also be active in the field of machine learning and CASUS representatives will use this workshop to provide insight into their aims and strategies.

MLC Organizing Team:
