Description | Photoactivatable carbon‐monoxide‐releasing molecules (photoCORMs) are currently being intensively explored as therapeutically relevant pro‐drugs because this approach may lead to a safe and controllable release of carbon monoxide. In this context, a green‐fluorescent ruthenium(II) complex was designed as carrier for carbon monoxide and as molecular probe for monitoring the uptake in cells. Irradiation with UV‐A light triggered the desired decarbonylation with a rather unexpected outcome. For more details see the Full Paper by H. Stephan, M. Kubeil, et al. on page 10992 ff. |
