Information on employment opportunities for Ukrainian citizens
You would like to support Ukrainian researchers and students and give them the opportunity to work in your department or institute for a limited period of time. The HZDR offers various possibilities for this, which we would like to briefly outline below. For further information or specific advice, please contact your responsible contact person in the Human Resources Department.
Opportunities for students:
Employment as a student assistant (SHK-studentische Hilfskraft) during a course of study. In addition, students (with a bachelor's degree) in a master's program also have the option of employment as a research assistant (WHK-wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft).
- Prerequisite is a residence in Germany and enrollment at a higher education institution.
- Scope of employment: max. 19 hrs. per week
- The time limit is set according to the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Scientific Time Contracts) if the student is enrolled at a German university, otherwise according to the Teilzeit- und Befristungsgesetz (German Act on Part-Time Employment and Time Limits).
- Remuneration rates
Carrying out a voluntary internship for max. 3 months
- Prerequisite is a residence in Germany
- Internship flat rate: 250 euros per month
Opportunities for researchers:
Employment as a research assistant (WHK-wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft) with a completed scientific university degree (master's/diploma degree from a scientific university).
- Prerequisite is a residence in Germany
- Scope of employment: max. 19 hrs. per week
- The fixed-term contract is made in accordance with the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Science Temporary Contract Act) and specifies a qualification goal.
- Remuneration rate
Award of a research fellowship for foreign scientists* with doctorate (HZDR instruction D321)
- Employment not subject to social insurance
- Duration of funding: 1 year, option to extend to a maximum funding period of up to 2 years.
- Funding maximums:
- up to 2.650 Euro per month (doctorate not older than 4 years)
- up to 3.150 Euro per month (doctorate not older than 6 years)
Award of an HZDR scholarship for doctoral students (BMBF guidelines for the award of doctoral scholarships) for the purpose of achieving a doctoral degree
- Employment not subject to social insurance
- Duration of funding: max. 3 years
- Grant amounts: 1,000 to 1,365 euros per month
Visiting scientist with daily allowance for max. 3 months
- Employment not subject to social insurance
- Allowance for expenses: Payment of a per diem meal allowance of EUR 28 per day and a per diem accommodation allowance of EUR 20.00 per day, or reimbursement of necessary expenses upon presentation of proof in accordance with the German Federal Travel Expenses Act (Bundesreisekostengesetz).
