Celebrating 10 years success of HZDR Innovation GmbH
Success story in technology transfer
The HZDR Innovation GmbH celebrated its 10th birthday at the beginning of June 2022 with a big party. HZDR Innovation was founded at the end of 2011 as a transfer company jointly by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and GWT-TUD Dresden GmbH. From the very beginning, the company's mission has included shaping the transfer of the HZDR's excellent research results to the market.
HZDR Innovation's success was celebrated by the management team led by Dr Björn Wolf and Dr Roman Böttger, employees, shareholders, advisory board members and founders alike. More than 90 guests came to the celebration in the Kulturwirtschaft at Kraftwerk Mitte to look back on the achievements and the beginnings. Among the well-wishers were Prof. Peter Joehnk, Dr. Diana Stiller, Dr. Wilhelm Zörgiebel, Heinz Martin Esser, Prof. Jacques Rohayem, Udo Werner and Prof. Roland Sauerbrey.

As a spin-off of the HZDR, HZDR Innovation realises commercial production and service orders and makes the unique large-scale research equipment of the HZDR accessible to partners from industry. The main business field of HZDRI is high-energy ion implantation. In manual or semi-automated handling, the processing of wafers of different sizes is possible. The HZDRI promotes the transfer of research results. In addition to the (finished) development of prototypes and demonstrators, various sensors and other innovative products are produced in small series or individual production and sold worldwide. Furthermore, as an incubator and shareholder, HZDRI provides start-up assistance for HZDR spin-offs. HZDR Innovation now has around 80 employees. The shareholders of HZDR Innovation are the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf and GWT-TUD GmbH. The latter is a wholly owned subsidiary of TUDAG. The product and service portfolio of HZDR Innovation now includes almost 20 technologies. What many people do not know: HZDR Innovation is also a provider of advanced training in innovation and IP management as well as technology transfer.
