Battery system engineering

Commercial batteries need to be sufficiently insulated in order to avoid excessive cooling. At the same time the insulation should not be too thick as the battery needs otherwise to be cooled during operation. In this context, suitable high-temperature insulation materials are investigated at HZDR and the temperature distribution and its temporal development is modelled.
