DevOps Engineer (f/m/d) - Cloud Infrastructure and Data Services

The Department of Information Services and Computing is the service, consultation and coordination centre for the Information Infrastructure of the HZDR.

The Group High Performance Computing is looking for a DevOps Engineer (f/m/d) - Cloud Infrastructure and Data Services. 

Your tasks

  • Analyze, optimize and adapt HZDR infrastructure and data services
  • Operate scientific cloud infrastructure on top of like Kubernetes, OpenStack and Proxmox
  • Support research groups in using infrastructure and data services

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) in the field of Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural Sciences or a related
  • Advanced training for a DevOps professional (f/m/d) is an advantage
  • Knowledge of
    • Common programming languages and container orchestration tools (e.g. Docker, Podman, Apptainer, Kubernetes)
    • OpenStack cloud platform and its components
    • Proxmox virtualization platform and its components
  • Basic knowledge in
    • Complex and distributed networks (Desgin, protocols, etc.)
    • Complex and distributed services and systems (Databases, storage, authentication, etc.)
  • Experience
    • In software development and programming (GitLab, CI/CD)
    • With configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible)
  • Willingness to cooperate intensively with developers and users from science and industry
  • Knowledge of the Linux operating system and Bash scripting
