Exhibition “Hi!Lusatia – research provides new opportunities” in Görlitz welcomes visitors
A region in transformation – starting this week, a community-organized exhibition is highlighting an often-overlooked aspect of the region’s structural change: With the establishment, expansion, and strengthening of new and existing scientific institutions, Lusatia is evolving into a knowledge-based region. The exhibition “Hi!Lusatia – research provides new opportunities” showcases what has been achieved, what is planned, and the people driving this transformation.
Small gallery, big turnout: 50 guests attended the exhibition opening

More than 50 guests attended the grand opening at the Brüderstraße Gallery next to the Silesian Museum in Görlitz’s Old Town. Among them were the mayor of Görlitz, Octavian Ursu, and the deputy mayor of Zgorzelec, Radosław Baranowski. In his welcoming remarks, Ursu emphasized that he is proud of the current development. However, he also noted that change is a process that must be monitored and supported. What attracts skilled workers to Görlitz and keeps them here? How can the local economy benefit from the academic community? How can we support the creation of new businesses?
The exhibition itself was conceived and organized by the members as well as the administrative office of the Hi!Lusatia Association. It features brief introductions of most of the 16 members of the association. The exhibition also presents portraits of researchers, illustrations of scientific projects, plans for research facilities, and photos of scientific equipment. Descriptions in German, Polish, and English can be accessed via the QR codes beneath the display panels.
The exhibition, which is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through October, is aimed at both locals and visitors to the region. It is centrally located between the Obermarkt and the Untermarkt in Görlitz. The free exhibition is accompanied by various events. On select dates, it is also open on weekends.
The exhibition’s partners are the Saxon Agency for Structural Development and Görlitzer KulturService GmbH. It is also supported by Sparkasse Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien.
