Science Communication Award goes to HIF

HIF scientist Dr. Martin Rudolph was awarded with the Science Communication Prize of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), to which the HIF belongs, for the successful and committed communication of the research topic "resource efficiency" to the general public and the scientific community. He heads the Department of Processing, which deals with the extraction of primary raw materials and secondary materials by flotation, the most common industrial process for the production of metal concentrates.

Martin Rudolph regularly participates in public events in Freiberg and Dresden, such as the Open Laboratory Day at the HZDR, the Long Nights of Science and career fairs. His lecture at last year's “Freiberg History Lesson” attracted many interested people to the Helmholtz Institute.
But thanks to the HIF scientist, Freiberg's entire research in the field of flotation has also gained visibility among experts. The MEI blog, the most important internet platform in processing, honoured him with the title "Rising Star". "A big and heartfelt thank you goes to my great young, international team of students, PhD students, scientists and technicians," says Martin Rudolph. He works as an assistant editor for “Minerals Engineering”, the most influential journal in his field of research, and as a section editor for “Physicochemical Problems in Mineral Processing”.
The HZDR prizes are awarded once a year in the categories of research, technology, innovation, science communication and for the best doctoral thesis.
