Technical employee/ Operator for ion accelerators (f/m/d)

The Institute for Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research is dedicated to the study of materials and their nanostructures that can be considered for future applications in information technology and are based on electrical, magnetic or optical functionalities.

The Group Ion Accelerators is looking for a Technical employee/ Operator for ion accelerators (f/m/d). 

Your tasks

  • Independent operation and technical support of high-energy ion accelerators of the Ion Beam Center after six months on-the-job-training
  • Involvement in maintenance and upgrades of the facilities and experimental setups
  • Support and service for colleagues and guest during their experiments at the Ion Beam Center
  • Logging and documentation of the facility operation

Your profile

  • Completed vocational training as an electrotechnician, electrician or electrical engineer, mechatronic technician, a system technician, mechanican (f/m/d) with additional electrical training (e.g. EUP)
  • Relevant professional experience with complex scientific machines
  • Independent, organized and goal-oriented working
  • Communication and team skills
  • Willingness to be trained on-the-job as an operator for electrostatic ion accelerators
  • Willingness to work in a 3-shift operation mode and on weekends
  • Good skills in German and English
