My Interpretation of DREsden AMS – Status, Developments, Ideas

DREAMS, the DREsden AMS-facility at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf is performing routine accelerator mass spectrometry of 10Be, 26Al, 36Cl, 41Ca, and 129I for a wide range of applications [1]. I will give an overview of the facility with its 6 MV HVEE tandetron and also its performance the last four years. Recent technical developments such as a low-memory ion source for 36Cl and 129I will be shown. Some of the applications will be highlighted. I will also briefly report the status of the Super-SIMS project, which will connect a CAMECA SIMS (SIMS = Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) to the tandem accelerator aiming for lower detection limits for analysing geological samples within our focus of resource technology.
