In order to try out new things for knowledge and technology transfer and to support current developments in the field of transfer, the Technology Transfer and Innovation department is involved as a project partner in several funded projects.

A lack of knowledge about transfer processes is one of the reasons why scientists are sceptical about knowledge and technology transfer. Yet the question is essential for every researcher: What am I researching for? What drives me and what do I want to achieve with it? By intensifying and systematically bundling qualification and awareness-raising offers, the Transfer Department would like to promote the transfer and entrepreneurship culture at the HZDR on a broad scale in the future.

The HZDR transfer team was successful with four applications submitted for the "Helmholtz Transfer Academies" call as part of the transfer campaign. Starting in 2023, the HZDR Innovators School will design qualification programmes that build on each other. These will be closely interlinked with the promotion of individual career paths.

The HZDR Innovators School is an HGF project that will be implemented 2023-2025 by the Technology Transfer & Innovation Department together with the Human Resources Department and the Postdoc Center HZDR-TUD and other partners such as dresden|exists, HighTech Startbahn, TransferAllianz and HZDR Innovation GmbH. The Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung in Leipzig, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and the Deutsche GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam are involved in the HZDR Innovators School as an advisory board.

  • Duration: 01.01.2023 - 31.12.2025

The HZDR is also involved in three other Helmholtz Transfer Academies:

  • Multipliers for innovations - Transfer qualification for group leaders (FZJ, GFZ, HZDR, KIT)
  • HAFIS: To strengthen the intrapreneurship culture (KIT, FZJ, GSI, HZDR)
  • H3: Helmholtz Health Hub (HZI, DKFZ, Munich, MDC, DZNE, HZDR)

Transfer strategies for sustainable and trustworthy cooperation -Transfer 360°

In this joint project, a concept is being developed and tested on how to effectively and efficiently establish long-term transfer relationships between senior scientists (postdocs or group leaders) from non-university research institutions and decision-makers from small and medium-sized enterprises in innovative cooperation projects. The focus is on the targeted establishment of personal working relationships with the development of a common mental model.

  • Duration: 01.02.2023 - 31.01.2026
  • Funding: BMBF
  • Coordination: HZDR
  • Project partners: Fraunhofer-Institut für Verfahrenstechnik und Verpackung IVV, ifo Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung e. V., Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden

TrAIN - Train Alumni from Industry for next gens

With the DAAD-funded project "TrAIN - Train Alumni from Industry for NEXT Gens", the HZDR aims to establish an supporter network of international alumni who are interested in collaborating with the HZDR in the field of knowledge and technology transfer. The TrAIN project is funded by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and jointly implemented by the Human Resources Department, the Postdoc Center HZDR-TUD and the Department of Technology Transfer and Innovation.

  • Duration: 01.01.2022 - 31.12.2023
  • Funding: DAAD

Open Transfer

Strategies for the transfer of research results in the open science context.

The aim of the Open Transfer project is to develop and test new methods for the improved transfer of knowledge and technologies in the context of open science and with a differentiated understanding of open science and transfer. In particular, this involves new strategies and business models for transfer, Tools for the concrete and simple support of transfer processes, as well as organisational structures and processes for integration into the activities of the respective research institutions.

Project coordinator: Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung (GSI), other project partner: Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies (ipht)

  • Duration: 01.10.2022 - 30.09.2025
  • Funding: BMBF

Hi-Acts - Helmholtz Innovation Platform for Accelerator-based Technologies and Solutions

The new innovation platform Hi-Acts - Helmholtz Innovation Platform for Accelerator-based Technologies & Solutions - pursues the mission of making accelerator-based technologies specifically accessible for industrial and medical applications. The Helmholtz research centers have unique large-scale research facilities that can be used by industrial companies and research clinics. In addition, new, smaller variants of this technology for laboratory applications in medicine, product development or industrial quality assurance are being jointly developed. Hi-Acts brings all stakeholders together to work in close partnership to integrate deep-tech solutions into industrial value chains more quickly and bring innovations to society.

OPTIBEAM

Green mobility "made in Saxony" - Innovative solutions for pioneering automotive and industrial applications

For the development of new power products and systems, the Dresden-based semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies Dresden GmbH & Co. KG has joined forces with 10 partners from Saxony's business and research community, including the HZDR. The European Union and the Free State of Saxony are funding the entire project with a total of 17.7 million euros. Part of the funding, around 500,000 euros, will flow into our OPTIBEAM project, which is part of the Hi-Acts Innovation platform. With OPTIBEAM, the HZDR and Infineon Technologies will conduct research into the optimal characterization of ion beams.

The measure is co-financed from tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament.
