Partner acquisition and business model development (Id 422)

Student Assistant / Research Assistant

The work will accompany a project that validates a new method for optimising flotation processes (in raw material processing). The technical aspect in the according project is the validation of the technology. The selected research assistant will be involved in the acquisition of industrial/commercial partner organisations. The candidate will conduct and support the acquisition process, will held communication with the partner organisations and documents according acitivities. The documented communication will later be taken into account in the development of a business model. The business model will continue to be closely tuned with the technical-scientific staff and will be carried out together with the Technology Transfer Department of the HZDR.

Requirements

The prerequisite is a bachelor's degree or an intermediate diploma. Interested candidates who are currently completing a bachelor's thesis or an intermediate diploma are also welcome to apply.

Conditions

The position can be based either in Dresden-Rossendorf or in Freiberg. However, occasional travelling to Freiberg is desired and the willingness to work in Freiberg is positively evaluated. The possibility of mobile work or working from home is particularly given.

3D characterization of materials using computed tomography (Id 418)

We are looking for a student who has strong critical thinking and can contribute to the various ongoing projects using X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) at the HIF. CT is the main laboratory technique used for 3D characterization of microstructures in order to study their origins and functionalities (https://www.hzdr.de/db/Cms?pNid=646). At the HIF, various types of materials are regularly characterized with special emphasis on geological materials, e.g. rock cores and crushed ores, as well as recyclable materials, e.g. batteries and electronic waste. The student will do both experimental work and data processing of the 3D images. The position does not require previous experience, although an open and curious mind with the willingness to learn is crucial. The work can be adapted into a BSc or MSc thesis.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in STEM courses. E.g. Materials or Earth sciences and engineering
  • Critical thinking, independent and reliable work culture
  • Willingness to work in the lab as well as to process data in a computer
  • Good communication skills in English

Conditions

  • Working place HZDR: Freiberg (HIF)
  • Start date: July 2024, initially for 3 months
  • Duration: flexible schedule up to 19 h/week
  • Remuneration according to HZDR internal regulation
