Portal for data analysis services (VISA)

The Department of Information Services and Computing aims to ensure excellent state-of-the-art research data management for outstanding scientific discoveries in all Helmholtz research fields as well as a seamless integration of comprehensible services to support the entire life cycle of modern research projects.

The Data Management and HPC Group is looking for a student assistant to support us in setting up the VISA platform at HZDR. VISA, the Virtual Infrastructure for Scientific Analysis, enables our scientists to start a data analysis session on our HPC resources as soon as a dataset has been collected. VISA provides access to both remote desktop environments and Jupyter Notebooks, enabling users to remotely analyse data from our facilities during or after the experiment.

  • Initial setup of a demonstrator on our HZDR HPC resources
  • Incremental integration of further resources with colleagues from the data centre
  • Documentation of the deployment steps for reuse with our European partners
