Terminal Server Access for HV Control and DAQ-CPU
General Information
The two mainframes for the high voltage detector bias supply and the terminal access of the frontend CPU are controlled by serial interfaces connected to a terminal server located in room 40/108. One can connect from any terminal bytelnet name-of-the-terminalserver port or take the locally connected ASCII terminal.
Keep both parameters in your mind and don't write them down, since we don't want somebody to fry us. The best way to connect to the terminal server's ports is to telnet to the port first and then to switch on the respective module. Otherwise, the terminal server port is blocked from time to time.
High-Voltage Control
Right now, there are two HV mainframes used for the NaI detector and the HPGe/BGO detectors, resp. The stuffing scheme and recommended settings are listed in the following table:Detector | Serial number | Crate | Slot | Channel | Cable | HV |

Hardware Description of the Terminal Server
The terminal servers have a 6-pin RJ-MMJ serial interface which needs a special connecting cable. The wiring scheme is displayed in the picture below:
The connectors of the communication interface on both HV mainframes are Cannon DB25, female. You may find more information about D-SUB connectors here. Both follow the terminal wiring scheme as shown in the middle row.
