Preface

What happened in the previous year at the Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf - not only from a scientific point of view? From now on, we want to provide you with the latest and most important news in a short review on this website. If you need more detailed information on research at the FZD, please have a look at our Triennial Report 2004 - 2007. In this threepart report scientists present their results in the research programmes, namely "Advanced Materials Research", "Cancer Research" and "Nuclear Safety Research".

In this Report you will find basic data and facts about our research centre as well as an overview of last year's major events. FZD is especially focused on promoting junior staff, to which we dedicated one page on this site. In 2007, FZD scientists were awarded for their achievements in research. Via the "Awards" link you will also find a list of the FZD laureates 2007.

The evaluation of our research centre by the German "Wissenschaftsrat" last year was certainly an outstanding event. The three-day visit of the evaluation commission in November 2007 was a success due to the help of all our FZD employees. The commission's report is expected in summer 2008. We will inform you about this on our website in due time.
