Remote surveillance of the nELBE cave (up to June 2018)

In the nELBE cave (542/125) two Logitech QuickCam cameras are installed to monitor the target position and scanner movement. Both cameras are accessible via the PC FWK21.

The first camera looks in direction of the collimator exit (cf. Fig. 1) and sees the second camera (A), the vacuum window of the beam tube (B) and the horizontal (C) and vertical (D) beam scan detectors.

The second camera looks in direction of the beam dump (cf. Fig. 2) and sees the first camera (A), the target control box (B) and the target (C) inside the BaF2 array,

Camera control

The following steps have to be done to get access and control the camera:

  • connect to FWK21
rdesktop -g 1240x900 -a 16 -k de fwk21
user name: ntofdaq
password: *******
  • start program window
double click "Logitech Quick Cam" symbol (1)*
  • open video window
click "Quick Capture" button (2)*
  • open control panel
click "Einstellungen ändern" button (3)*
  • pan and zoom
use "Schwenken und Kippen" and "Zoom" controls (4)*

Camera change

The switch between the two cameras the following steps have to be done:

  • open control panel
click "Einstellungen ändern" button (3)*
  • switch to advanced options
click "Erweitere Einstellungen" button (5)*
  • choose the camera
from the drop down menu of "Kameraauswahl"
