Long Night of Science
Each year, staff in the Department of Radiotherapy and Radiation Oncology together with scientists from the OncoRay Center will take part in the Long Night of Science at the OncoRay Center (Händelallee 26, House 130). From 7 pm to midnight, tours of the proton therapy facility’s therapy suite will be offered every 15 minutes. Experts will be on hand to answer questions about the role of radiotherapy in cancer treatment and radiation research. You can try out a proton marble run.
Lecture series “Radiation Research in Oncology”
In 2010, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research nominated OncoRay and the Heidelberg Institute for Radiooncology (HIRO) to become the joint National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology (NCRO). The cross-locational lecture series “Radiation Research in Oncology” is organised over a period of two years and comprises a total of 18 lectures.
The lectures are held on the spot by lecturers in Dresden and Heidelberg and streamed to the other location. They cover a broad spectrum of topics in medicine, biology, chemistry, physics and technology that are of relevance to research at OncoRay and HIRO. Each lecture offers a broadly-understandable overview of a specific topic.
