Research for a world worth living in for future generations - this is the goal pursued by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf in the fields of matter, energy and health. Sustainability - a responsible and future-oriented approach - plays a central role in this. In order to master the complex ecological, social and economic challenges of our time, we must act together. Science is crucial for the implementation of sustainability goals. At HZDR, we use our research to show ways of reconciling a healthy environment with social progress.

Our mission

We are committed to a sustainable future by developing innovative solutions and promoting environmentally friendly practices. Our goal is to address the environmental, societal and economic challenges of our time and to have a positive impact on society and the environment. This includes research into the more efficient use of materials and energy and strengthening the circular economy. In addition, the sustainable management of the sites themselves is important to us. At our research center, we are helping to shape the transition to a sustainable industry and the transformation of energy systems as a contribution to a green society. In this way, the HZDR is helping to ensure a decent standard of living for this and future generations.
