HZDR: Partner at "Network Dresden - City of Science"

In 2006, the city of Dresden carried the title "City of Science", and founded the network Dresden - City of Science, which has been active ever since. One popular event supported by the network partners in Dresden is the Dresden Long Night of Sciences.

"Charter of Diversity"

HZDR is a member of the "Charter of Diversity", an initiative encouraging diversity in business companies and public institutions. It is supported by the German federal government, the chancellor of Germany being its patron.

Der vierte Zustand der Materie

Press Release of 13.03.2018

Im Inneren kosmischer Giganten, wie Jupiter oder der Sonne, herrscht ein merkwürdiger Zustand. Der extrem große Druck und die hohe Temperatur verwandeln die Materie in Plasma – ein brodelndes Gemisch wild umherfliegender Atome, Ionen und Elektronen. Die Materie ist dadurch gleichzeitig dichter als alle bekannten Festkörper, aber auch derart heiß, dass sie den Schmelzpunkt jeglichen Materials übersteigt. Mit ihrer neuen Nachwuchsgruppe geht Dr. Katerina Falk dieser sogenannten „Warmen Dichten Materie“ am Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) seit Anfang März 2018 auf den Grund. In den nächsten sechs Jahren unterstützt die Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft die Physikerin dafür mit insgesamt 1,8 Millionen Euro.
