Knowledge and Technology Transfer
The Positive Trend Continues
When it comes to knowledge and technology transfer, the positive trend of the previous years continued also in 2013. The basis for the positive development is the transfer strategy which had been adopted by the HZDR Board of Directors in 2012. Since then it was possible to increase the industrial revenues to 2.7 million euros. In addition, the HZDR Innovation GmbH – a subsidiary of the research center – generated a turnover amounting to 1.7 million euros. With the income from license agreements amounting to 180,000 euros, the HZDR was able to expand its successful utilization also in 2013.
With the i3membrane GmbH, it was also possible to complete another spin‑off. HZDR Innovation has a share of 24.9 percent in the company, which addresses the development, production, and distribution of metallic nanofilters. Two other spin‑off projects – BioBase and FlowSens – are currently supported by the “EXIST Forschungstransfer” program. Thanks to its highly promising technology and its excellent business concept, BioBase won the first place in Saxony’s innovation competition futureSax in 2013. The project revolves around the development of bio-based coupling agents for plastic electroplating.
