Research interests
Our research focus is on the in-depth biological characterization and pharmacological evaluation of novel radiopharmaceuticals based on small molecules, peptides and antibody derivatives. Hereby, the individual building blocks (e.g. radiometals, chelators) as well as the conjugates as a whole are analyzed in depth regarding their in vitro stability, their effects on cell signaling and health as well as their multifaceted interactions with biomolecules and cells. Our fundamental aim is to understand the biology of such materials and to shed light on involved molecular mechanisms and use the knowledge gained for rationally improving their design in that respect. Building up on these studies, we are also working on precise engineering and tailoring of different kinds of bioconjugates for their application as diagnostic tools and therapeutic agents.

News
Science communication and promotion of young scientists: Together with Dr. Nicole Matschiavelli from the Institute of Resource Ecology, I presented the career path of scientific staff in the field of biology to interested young people at this year's "Girls' Day | Boys' Day" at HZDR (April 27, 2023), both at our joint presence event and during our online presentation. On May 10, 2023, the preschool children of the kindergarten Hutbergstrolche in Dresden-Weißig were able to touch, experience and participate in science as part of the "Kids mit Grips" event series.
Curriculum vitae
I completed my university studies in Biology at the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) Germany in 2005 and received my PhD with distinction from the Department of Nanobiotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Science Vienna (BOKU), Austria in 2009. Before joining the Nanoscalic Systems group of Dr. Holger Stephan at the Institute of Radiopharmaceutical Cancer Research of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) as a research associate in 2011, I was a postdoctoral research associate at the Institute for Genetics of the TUD (2010-2011).
